Override Sununu veto of Burgess Biopower
To the Editor: Burning wood from local sources to generate clean, local energy makes sense for New Hampshire. Keeping the Burgess wood-fired biomass plant operating is especially good for northern New Hampshire because it is a staple of the economy for forestry and for the City of Berlin.
Burgess Biopower is also good for New Hampshire farmers who use the wood ash from this power plant as a locally-sourced fertilizer to sweeten the soil on their farm fields and to grow better crops.
We urge the Legislature to override Governor Chris Sununu’s veto on HB 142 this Thursday.
